Copying, Printing & Scanning

The TCNJ IT Department provides public self-service photocopy machines in the library. Copiers operate using the TCNJ GetIT Card (ID card) at a cost per copy of 5 cents.  There is one color copier for public use in Instructional Technology Services located on the Lower Level of the Library; color copies are 50 cents.  TCNJ ID card holders may add value to their cards at the Value Transfer Machines located at the Library Access Services desk and in the Student Center, or online at Get It Card Online. The minimum purchase is $1.00, which provides 20 copies.  Please note that there are no coin-operated public access photocopy machines in the library.  Non-TCNJ library users may purchase copy debit cards from the Value Transfer Machines; for more details, please see Guest Printing Instructions.  Photocopy machines feature a variety of copying options on every machine.  All machines make 8.5″ x 11″ and 8.5″ x 14″ copies and all machines enlarge and reduce.

For more detailed instructions regarding copying, please see IT’s Copy Instructions.

Printing is available from most desktop computers in the library; any computer that does not allow printing is clearly marked.  In addition, microfilm / microfiche reader-printers are available for use on Level 4. Prints are 5 cents for each page printed (i.e., a double-sided print costs 10 cents). For more information, including instructions for printing from laptops and other personal devices, please see the following pages:

Scanners are available in Library Reference area as well as in Instructional Technology Services located on the Lower Level of the Library.

Microform Machines

There are microfilm / microfiche reader-printer machines on Level 4 in the Microforms area.

Reporting Printer/Copy/Microform Machine Problems

If a printer/copy machine displays an error message, such as “check paper path” or “add paper,” please report the problem to the Access Services desk so repairs can be made promptly.  Please do not attempt to repair printer/copy machines yourself.

Reporting Poor Quality Copies

Poor quality photocopies should be reported to the Library Access Services staff. The Library is not responsible for lost or stolen copy cards, or for photocopy mistakes made by the library users. For questions relating to refunds for print jobs not received, please see How do I get credit for a job not printed?

Caring for Library Equipment and Materials

Photocopying can place damaging stress on library books and periodicals. Open books carefully and position the page to be copied gently on the copier glass.

Copyright Law

The copyright law of the United States (Title 107 U.S. Code) governs the making of photocopies of copyrighted materials.  The person using a copy machine is liable for any violation on the law.
